About me

Hey there, my name is Kasia Jurek! My journey in music is one of passion, performance, and creative exploration. It began with a formal education at Edinburgh Napier University, where I immersed myself in the rich worlds of classical performance and music theory. This time provided the strong foundation that I now share with my students, guiding them through technical mastery and the ABRSM grades with a structured, supportive approach.

Beyond the concert hall, my musical life is vibrant and active. You can find me performing across Edinburgh and beyond as the violinist for the metal band, Chekov’s Gun. Being part of a band has given me invaluable insight into collaboration, improvisation, and the pure joy of live performance: all elements I bring into my teaching to help students become confident and expressive musicians.

My creative path has also led me into the exciting world of cinematic soundscapes, where I have composed original music for a number of independent films. This experience in scoring has profoundly shaped my understanding of how music tells a story and creates emotion, a perspective I am passionate about sharing with students in my composition workshops.

Ultimately, I believe in a holistic musical education. One that balances disciplined technique with creative freedom. My goal is to not only teach my students how to play the violin but to help them discover their own unique musical voice.

Where am I based

Originally I’m from a small village in Poland, but I moved to Scotland at a very young age. I grew up in Strirling, but I’m fully based out of Edinburgh. I’ve fallen in love with the city – the culture, studying here, and now being able to teach here is a privilege!
